Unter Wölfen is a German television film by Peter Fratzscher from 2007. It is the 37th episode of the crime series A strong team with Maja Maranow and Florian Martens in the leading roles.

action

Chief Detective Verena Berthold and colleague Otto Garber are called to a murder victim. A bank clerk primarily responsible for lending was stabbed to death in a parking lot at dawn. Wolf hair is found on the corpse, which the investigators attribute to the offender's clothing. While they are doing the initial research, there is another victim. The operator of a campsite was also stabbed to death with a hunting knife, and wolf hairs are also found here, so that the same perpetrator is suspected. It can be ruled out that the wolf hair comes from an item of clothing, so the perpetrator must have something to do with wolves. However, Commissioner Garber is amazed at how many hunters are registered in Berlin, which makes it almost impossible to check individuals.

To find out a connection between the two victims, Berthold investigates undercover at the campsite. After a trailer has just burned down there, the investigators seem to find the solution there. Investigator Ben Kolberg is now looking after a pretty, young colleague of the first victim and hopes to find clues to a possible motive. So it doesn't take long and he meets Dieter Bulthoff, the ex-boyfriend of his new beloved. Since he works with wolves in the zoo, he is urgently suspect for Kolberg. But his hunting knife does not turn out to be the murder weapon.

Garber has the camper Harry Schmitz in his sights thanks to a tip from Berthold. He hunts secretly without a license and deals in drugs. But his knife is also ruled out as a murder weapon after the investigation. When the perpetrator attacks a man with a knife in an underground car park and the potential victim can put the perpetrator to flight, the knife remains at the scene. This man also apparently has no connection to the previous victims, so investigators assume that the killer chooses his victims at random.

However, Garber is gradually finding the first connections, because the man from the underground car park works for the health insurance company and one of his customers, whose treatment he had to refuse based on the files, was Sabine Meyer. She had not been able to take out a loan due to her illness and her husband was also refused a loan because he lost his job as a taxidermist and had no other securities. After the woman died of cancer, the apartment was canceled due to arrears in rent and Wolfgang Meyer has lived on the campsite ever since. There, too, he hadn't been able to pay the booth fee for a long time and the groundskeeper threatened to give notice here too, which could possibly cost her life.

Independently of Otto Garber, Verena Berthold also finds a trace of Wolfgang Meyer. After he catches the inspector searching his belongings and finding various drawings of wolves, he incapacitates the policewoman and flees. So Meyer is searched and Berthold suspects that his campaign of revenge is not over yet. By appearing early, the commissioners were able to prevent the murder of a doctor, but still couldn't catch Meyer. It remains fleeting and a danger for the person in charge of the health insurance, but also for Meyer's former boss. When Meyer actually threatens to kill him and tries to push him off the roof of the natural history museum, Berthold can persuade him to give up: she reads him a letter from his wife to a friend in which she forgives all the people involved.

criticism

Tilmann P. Gangloff from kino.de said: “The ladies and gentlemen permanent campers, all more or less eccentric existences in their own way, form the entertaining background for a thriller that actually ends after an hour […] [and his ] Tension from the question of who it will hit next. […] The title reference to the wolves, on the other hand, is a false lead that the book […] tries to lure the audience into. [...] As is so often the case, this episode of the 'Strong Team' lives less from the case than from the lively cooperation of the investigators. "

In quotenmeter.de states that knows how to convince the new case from the crime series, a strong team. ' " The story is logically thought out from start to finish and convinces with good dialogues. The 90-minute watch is also not lacking in tension. [...] In the end, it is also a deeply touching story that will surely affect the viewer. "

The critics of the television magazine TV Spielfilm only give a medium rating (thumbs straight) and say: "As a crime thriller, it works too late, as a comedy it unfortunately never works."
