Leopold von Verschuer

Leopold von Verschuer (* 1961 in Brussels ) is a German actor , radio play speaker , director and author, as well as theater director and translator .

Life

Leopold von Verschuer grew up as a child of German parents in his hometown and also attended the Conservatoire Royal there; his father Helmut von Verschuer was a European civil servant. He began his acting career at Berlin theaters. From 1986 to 1993 he worked at the Theater an der Ruhr , with which he went on worldwide tours. In the years that followed, von Verschuer was involved in a large number of stages in Germany and abroad, including the theaters in Bonn and Freiburg , the Teo Otto Theater in Remscheid, Berlin at the Hebbel Theater and the Sophiensælen , at the State Theater in Germany Kassel , at the Munich Residenztheater and the Grillo-Theater in Essen. In Austria he played at the Vienna Volkstheater and the Tanzquartier as well as the Steirischer Herbst , in Switzerland von Verschuer made guest appearances at the Theater Basel , in Zurich at the Theater an der Winkelwiese and the Theater am Neumarkt , and also at the Théâtre Vidy-Lausanne and the Comédie de Genève . Von Verschuer, who speaks French without an accent, also had engagements on stages in France and Portugal. In the past, von Verschuer also worked as a director at many of the theaters mentioned, for example on various world premieres and German premieres.

Well-known roles in his theater career were the title characters in Torquato Tasso by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe , in Molière's Don Juan , Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare and Heiner Müller's Hamlet machine .

Von Verschuer also works as a translator of texts from French, both for the stage and for radio and television. Intensive collaborations with the writers Valère Novarina , Alvaro García de Zúñiga and Kathrin Röggla developed from this . His translations are mainly published by Alexander Verlag Berlin and Verlag Matthes & Seitz Berlin .

Von Verschuer has been working for radio since the mid-1990s in various areas, mainly as a speaker and director, in addition to his translation work also as an editor (word). His trips in front of the camera are less common. He has been sporadically seen on the screen since the mid-1980s, including guest appearances in various crime series, including Tatort , Polizeiruf 110 and SOKO Wismar . Von Verschuer also organizes readings and moderates author readings or discussion series with authors.

Leopold von Verschuer lives in Berlin-Neukölln and is married to the author Kathrin Röggla .
