Christine is in her mid-30s, divorced, single parent and happy with her life. She also gets along well with her ex-husband Stefan. Then Christine meets the new woman at the side of her ex-husband. Her name is also Christine and is much younger than herself. When she realizes that Christine has now become the "old Christine" through her ex-husband's new partner, her life is mixed up.

Christine. Yesterday was perfect! is an adaptation of the US sitcom The New Adventures of Old Christine with Julia Louis-Dreyfus . Some of the dialogues from the original were translated one-to-one and transferred to the German version. The same strategy was used by RTL in the early 1990s for the German-language adaptations of Wer ist der Boss? ( A job for life ) and A Terribly Nice Family ( help, my family is nuts ) that didn't get past the first season.
The shooting of the first season took place from November 20, 2012 to January 25, 2013 in Berlin. On October 24, 2013 it was announced that RTL would not produce a second season.

The first episode was seen by 2.32 million viewers, which corresponds to a market share of 8.5 percent. In the group of 14 to 59 year olds, the episode achieved a market share of 12.8 percent with 1.89 million viewers. The ratings dropped significantly in the course of the first season and at the end of the season they were at a "bitter low" with 1.43 million viewers and a market share of 7.3 percent in the group of 14 to 59 year olds, who "speaks against the production of another season." Rainer Tittelbach referred to Christine. Yesterday was perfect! as an “entertaining in-between comedy snack with a slight addiction factor.” The main actress Diana Amft is “gorgeous” and the role of her ex with Janek Rieke is “ideally cast.” Markus Ehrenberg wrote in the Tagesspiegel that the series “is really fun.” Heike too Hupertz commented favorably on Christine in the FAZ . Yesterday was perfect! and praised the idea of adapting a US series. This would result in "a certain quality that is more the exception than the rule in the German sitcom business."
Julian Miller, on the other hand , described the series on Oddsmeter.de as “silly, gaudy and clichéd and affectionate with women.” The main actress Diana Amft seemed “simply too overzealous, too expansive in her gestures, too quirky and girly.” The Hamburger Abendblatt criticized the series , "That there is not much time left for character development plus plot," but praised the "momentum" of the leading actress.
