Michele Soavi (born July 3, 1957 in Milan ) is an Italian actor , screenwriter and film director .

Life

The son of the writer Giorgio dropped out of his studies to pursue his passion for cinema and worked as an actor since the mid-1970s, rarely playing more than minor roles. Soon he also turned to technical aspects and worked as an assistant editor; He was also involved in the production of a film by Marco Modugno , Bambulé , shot on Super 8 . At the beginning of the 1980s Soavi was able to work with his role model Dario Argento , but especially with Joe D'Amato as assistant directorwork together. In 1982 he also worked as a screenwriter and in this role accompanied two productions by D'Amato, who in turn produced Soavi's directorial debut, the horror film Aquarius - Theater des Todes from 1987. His two following films were then produced by Argento and show his clear stylistic influences. In 1993 he filmed Tiziano Sclavis DellaMorte DellAmore . Between 1995 and 1998 he directed numerous commercials and action-oriented thrillers for television , often with Raoul Bova as the protagonist, such as the Ultimo films or in 2007 Nassiryia - Per non dimenticare . In 2006 his film Arrivederci amore, ciao about the time of the Italian Anni di piombo (the 1970s and early 1980s) was released.

He often works with the screenwriter Franco Ferrini . In many cases Soavi also shot based on his own scripts. In the 2010s, he mainly worked on television series. His work includes around two dozen productions.
