Raoul Bova
Raoul Bova (born August 14, 1971 in Rome ) is an Italian film actor and model .
Life
Bova is the only son of Giuseppe Bova, an employee of the Alitalia airline , and Rosa Bova, a housewife; Bova, who was baptized after his great-grandfather Raoul, is also the brother of two sisters, Tiziana and Daniela. He comes from a Calabrian family.
As a child, he nearly drowned in a lake, so he began to overcome his trauma by doing sports. As a teenager, Bova was a member of the Lazio Rome football club and in 1987, at the age of 16, also took part in the swimming championship, where he took first place in the 100 meter backstroke discipline.
After finishing school, Bova studied sports science for some time in Rome and completed his military service with the Bersaglieri infantry force . After a failed attempt to become a Carabiniere , Bova found his true passion in acting and enrolled at the Beatrice Bracco Acting School in Rome.
He received his first film role in 1992 in the comedy Quando eravamo repressi , during the shooting of which he met his fellow actor Alessandro Gassmann , with whom he has been good friends since then. Bova is also a friend of Maria Grazia Cucinotta , with whom he stood in front of the camera in 1997 for the film drama The Four Kings . In 2002, Bova embodied St. Francis of Assisi in Francesco and had to lose 14 kilograms in body weight for the role.
Parallel to his work in front of the movie camera has Bova also established itself as a model in Italy, among others, Giorgio Armani's American US eyewear collection and for the fashion chain Gap Inc. promoted. In 2000 he also stood naked in front of the camera for a calendar for the German magazine Max .
Bova is also active in charities and is a member of Nazionale Italiana attori in charity games on the football field. He is also involved with Nobel Prize laureate Rigoberta Menchú Tum for third world countries , especially Guatemala .
Bova, who was once in a relationship with actress Romina Mondello , has been married to veterinarian Chiara Giordano since March 2000. He already has two children with her, the sons Alessandro Leon and Francesco.
