action

A NASA space capsule is scheduled to land off San Diego in the Pacific . The cave scientist Thelma Joyce collapses during the transmission of landing in the television studio. She suspects that something threatening must have happened. It turns out that the space capsule landed without its crew. Wild guesses arise as to what might have happened to the crew.

The next day, Thelma and her colleagues set out to visit a previously unexplored cave. Burt finds an unusual blue stone and takes it with her. In the cave, the group descends 400 meters. Here the research group is investigating an underground river bed. The strange blue stone suddenly bursts open and jumps in Maurine's face. The group tries to rescue Maurine. However, Burt is also killed by a creature that slips from Maurine's face. The rest of the group is now trapped in the depths and splits up to look for an escape route to the surface of the earth. Thelma's telepathic powers give her an inkling that something terrible is looking for the group. She tries with her strength to warn individual members of the group. Little by little the alien beings kill the scattered members of the group. Thelma and Roy are the only ones to survive and make it to the surface of the earth. You arrive in the deserted San Diego. This is where Roy is finally killed by the aliens. Thelma manages to escape from the aliens. However, she is the last person left in San Diego. Everyone else was killed by the aliens. At the end the text ora può colpire anche te (now it can also apply to you) is displayed.

  • The production costs were 400,000,000 Italian lire (approx. 200,000 euros).
  • The film was a huge commercial success in Italy and was able to gross.

Reviews

"Cheap ripper that mixes plot motifs from other genre films with nauseating effects."

“When Ridley Scott filmed his $ 10 million hit ALIEN in 1978, he would never have dreamed that the first nominal sequel would take place in a stalactite cave, of all places! The never-ending inventiveness of Italian exploitation specialists had already led to many a stroke of genius when it came to masking a lack of budget with chutzpah and daring - Sam Cromwell's ALIEN 2 SULLA TERRA elevates these virtues to Olympian daring! "

“This Italian film came out in the early 80s and wanted to swim with the success of the alien film. So it was also marketed as the second part of the Hollywood film. However, it is a more than cheap production, which you can see this every second. Be it the 'actors' (a very young Michele Soavi also plays), the story, the equipment and the bloody, but easy-to-see splatter effects. However, all of this makes the film an unforgettable experience for the inclined viewer, although boredom sets in from time to time. "
