Peter Shub

Peter Shub (born May 12, 1957 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania ) is an American clown and variety show director who has lived in Europe since the 1980s, where he also trained. He has worked with many leading international organizations and artists and has toured with Circus Roncalli from Germany, the Big Apple from New York and Cirque du Soleil from Canada. He won a silver clown in Monte Carlo at the International Circus Festival and tours with his solo program (“No liability for wardrobe”) as well as various mix and variety shows throughout Europe, directs, coaches and leads workshops.

Life

Shub grew up in New York City and later studied sociology at Temple University in Philadelphia. In 1979 he saw a magician perform on the street and was so fascinated by him that he traveled to Europe after graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree.

In Paris from 1980 to 1983 he attended the “École de Étienne Decroux” drama school and from 1982 to 1984 the “École Phillipe Gaulier”. His acting career began in 1984 in Paris in the theater production “Amadeus” under the direction of Roman Polański .

Between 1986 and 1989 he went on tour as a clown with Circus Roncalli in Germany and Russia . For the next three years he gave a comic theater workshop in Hanover . In 1992 he could be seen on stage again, on the one hand in the "Clowns" theater production in Berlin, as well as in the winter garden in the Polygontheater in Zurich . Another important step in his career was the comedy act with Loriot in the ARD production " Stars in der Manege ", which the two developed together and finally performed in 1994. In 1995 he worked as a director for the variety show "Scenario".

Shub had four children with his wife. His eldest son was killed in an accident in the old town hall in Hanover in 2001 .
