Ana Paula Lopes Padrão (born July 4, 1967 in Lisbon ) is a Portuguese actress .

Life

Her father took the family with him on his colonial war deployment in Angola when she was a few months old. At the age of 6 she returned to Portugal. After school she began both acting training at the National Conservatory and studying anthropology at the Universidade Nova in Lisbon, which she dropped out. In 1988 she completed her acting training in which she only acted in theater: Brecht's mother Courage and her children , in 1987 at the Teatro Nacional D. Maria II , staged by João Lourençoand broadcast on television. According to her own statement, she regretted having received a number of film offers immediately afterwards without having had more experience at the theater beforehand. Their attractive appearance and their multilingualism made them particularly interesting for the film, so that television series and a number of feature films of Portuguese and European production followed. After numerous leading roles, she is now one of the most famous actresses in Portuguese film .

reception

She caught the critics' attention with her convincing acting and diversity. She became known in particular in the role model of the femme fatale or the woman fighting against strokes of fate, but increasingly in telenovelas . Her roles, which were less popular with the public, also in international productions, naturally lagged behind in public perception. That is why she is known to the general public in Portugal today primarily for her work in popular films and television series, even if she is less frequently featured in the tabloids than similarly well-known actresses.
