action

The village of Weißensee in Carinthia: Max, the young owner of the Hotel Seerose, has taken on business. After a general renovation of the family-run hotel, he has high debts and the bank unexpectedly demands an immediate repayment of the entire loan. He doesn't have the money and so he is hoping for his wealthy friend Kurt, who once promised to help him out of every financial need. Max gets the news that his hotel has been sold by the bank to the investor European Investment. The young Sarah Sand appears in the village and, on behalf of the new owner, offers Max to keep the management of the Hotel Seerose. What Max doesn't suspect is that behind European Investment there is no one other than Kurt. He in turn plans to tear down the Hotel Seerose and build a luxury hotel in its place. A road is also to be built around the lake on which the new hotel will be located. The bustling Max should stay with the whole company.

The villagers are enthusiastic about the new plans, but they hope to be able to earn a lot of money quickly from the expected tourists. The mayor Vinzenz suppresses any criticism in the bud, because he finally wants to see progress in Weissensee. The critical Max is marginalized and decides to defend himself. He learns from a friend that he legally has two months to repay the loan to the bank. Sarah, who is supposed to seduce him at Kurt's behest if necessary, in order to get his approval to work on the new hotel, soon recognizes the real face of her boss and falls in love with Max. Since she can't get Max's approval, Kurt comes personally to the Hotel Seerose. Max, who until then had hoped to be able to borrow the necessary money from him, now learns the truth and breaks away from Kurt. Since he announced that he would be thrown out of his house if he refused to work, Max and his grandmother immediately moved to his mountain hut on the Alm.

The investors appear in town to take a personal look at everything. Sarah notes that there are also critical voices about the project, which brings her a reprimand from Kurt. In fact, the villagers have meanwhile opposed the project and are protesting in front of the town hall against the mayor and the local council. Kurt, on the other hand, plans to not even pay the farmers compensation for their lost fields and houses if the project is implemented.

The two investors turn out to be nature-loving men, who are deeply unsympathetic to the ambitious and profit-oriented Kurt. Together with Sarah they go on a mountain hike on Max 'Alm and spend the whole day there with Max. They learn the background of Kurt's fraud against Max and decide not to invest in Kurt's project, but in the continued existence of the Hotel Seerose. When Kurt finds out, he attacks Sarah, whom he blames for the investors' change of heart, and is knocked down by Max. Kurt leaves the village - and Max and Sarah are now finally a couple.

Reviews

“Seldom is one spoiled so generously with breathtaking landscapes in a TV production. The pictures, bathed in warm autumn colors, seem like a painting from the 19th century and stand in stark contrast to the cold facades of the city glass palaces, in which investors roll their abstract figures and want to turn the rural paradise into a gold mine. A film to dream about: little tension, but a lot of feeling. "

- Rtv

"Nice, but consistently predictable story based on the motto David versus Goliath, played very sympathetically."

- gong

"Colorful eco-friendly from the heartbreak kit."
