Cabaret nettles
The cabaret “Brennesseln” has existed since 1981. To date, 35 socially critical programs have been created, which have been performed 3000 times in numerous Austrian tours.
In Vienna they made guest appearances in the “Spektakel”, Ensemble Theater Wien , Akzent, cabaret and comedy at Vienna's Naschmarkt before they set up their own theater. The former Theater beim Auersperg (1080 Vienna, Auerspergstraße 19) is now called the cabaret “Brennessel”. Here already made guest appearances Dieter Hildebrandt , Magic Christian , Heinz Marecek, Klaus-Peter Schreiner, Georg Schramm, Fonso and Simone Solga.
Founding member Alfred Aigelsreiter (born August 5, 1954) wrote all programs almost single-handedly. The other members of the group are Robert Herret (born August 5, 1955), Paul Peschka (born May 24, 1956) and Peter Siderits (born March 27, 1953, former member of the Austro-Pop group Misthaufen ).
Kurt Sobotka directed for eight years, Marcel Wang for twelve years; other directors were Stephan Paryla, Peter Frick and children's book author Thomas Brezina .
