action

Dr. Dustin Diablo, the director of the city's wax museum, has some new items in his Halloween collection that bear a terrifying resemblance to the Munster family. In fact, it is robots that the devious Dr. Used Diablo to loot jewelry stores.

So it doesn’t take long for the police to ring the doorbell at the gate of the house at 1313 Mockingbird Lane and arrest Herman and Grandpa for serious robbery. After they have been properly identified, they are sent to prison, but soon break out again to prove their innocence.
In fact, they find out what Dr. Diablo plans. All previous raids were just tests in preparation for the big coup. On the occasion of this year's major Halloween exhibition, a three thousand year old mummy with priceless grave goods that Diablo is after will be presented.
Grandpa Munster has the saving idea. By magic, he goes to Transylvania and gets a full syringe of his “Mummy Revitalization Elixir”. With its help, they awaken the ancient Egyptian visitor to new life and together bring Dr. Hunt down Diablo and his minions.

After the villain was handed over to the police and the good name of the Munster was washed away, Herman and Grandpa go back to their family's lap.

Reviews

  • Lexicon of international film : "Gag comedy that relates to the successful television series 'Die Munsters' produced in 1964/65 ... entertainment without any pretension, designed entirely for short-term laughs."

Others

  • The outdoor shots on the Munsters property are archive material from the first Munsters feature film Gespensterparty from 1966. This can be recognized by the "England Or Burst" sticker on the side of the family car.
  • Cousin Phantom of the Opera was played by Bob Hastings (including the English original voice of Commissioner James Gordon from the Animated Batman series ). Ezra Stone , who directed many episodes of the Munsters original series, can also be seen in a supporting role .
  • Gwynne originally had no plans to slip into the role of Herman Munster again. When he was offered his star role again fifteen years after his last appearance, he demanded an exorbitant fee with the expectation that the producers would refuse and look for another actor. But they agreed and Gwynne took over the part.
  • Al "Grandpa" Lewis only accepted the role in The Return of the Frankenstein Family on one condition: the producers had to manage to get Fred Gwynne on board.
