Lee Meriwether
Lee Ann Meriwether (born May 27, 1935 in Los Angeles ) is an American actress and Miss America from 1955.
Life
Lee Ann Meriwether was born to Claudius Gregg Meriwether (1904-1954) and Ethel Eve Mulligan (1903-1996). She grew up with a younger brother in San Francisco and Phoenix, Arizona. Meriwether graduated from George Washington High School in San Francisco, with the future singer Johnny Mathis being one of her classmates. She then studied at the City College of San Francisco , together with the future actor Bill Bixby . In 1954, after being elected Miss San Francisco, she was named Miss California (1954) and finally Miss America in 1955 . After serving as Miss America, she joined the Today Show .
At the same time, Meriwether began to work as an actress in individual episodes of smaller television series. She made her feature film debut in the lead role of Linda Davis in the science fiction film The 4D Man . In 1966 she replaced Julie Newmar in her role as Catwoman for the film Batman Keeps the World in Suspense . She had long series appearances in Time Tunnel , Barnaby Jones , Munster Family and All My Children . For Barnaby Jones , Meriwether was nominated twice for the Golden Globe . She was hired as voice actress for the two video games Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (2008) and Vanquish (2010).
From 1958 until the divorce in 1974, Lee Meriwether was married to Frank Aletter , with whom they have two daughters. She has been married to Marshall Borden since September 21, 1986.
