Frank Aletter

Frank Aletter (born January 14, 1926 in Queens , New York City , † May 13, 2009 in Tarzana , Los Angeles , California ) was an American stage, film and television actor .

Life

In the 1950s, Aletter appeared on Broadway in the musicals Bells Are Ringing and Wish You Were Here, as well as in the play Time Limit .

From 1956, Aletter played more than 100 roles in films and in numerous television series . He made his debut in the movie No Time for Heroism, directed by John Ford . From 1960 he was best known in the lead role of Buddy Flower in the sitcom Bringing Up Buddy . He took on other film roles in Tora! Torah! Torah! And Walt Disney's The Tiger's going on ( A Tiger Walks ). Aletter has appeared on the television series M * A * S * H , Ironside , Matlock , Dallas and Falcon Crest .

In addition to his work, he was involved in the American actors' union Screen Actors Guild , of which he became vice president in 1987.

In 1958 he married the former Miss America Lee Meriwether . The couple had two daughters, actress Kyle Aletter-Oldham and Lesley Aletter. Ten years after his divorce in 1974, Aletter married his second wife, Estella, in 1984.
