Thomas Gehring (born July 27, 1958 in Gunzesried ) is a German politician . As a member of the Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen party , he has been a member of the Bavarian State Parliament since October 20, 2008 , where he has been the second vice-president since November 2018.

biography

After graduating from high school in Oberstdorf in 1979 and the subsequent civil service , Thomas Gehring completed a teaching degree from 1981 to 1987 with the 1st state examination at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . He then worked as a journalist for Bayerischer Rundfunk and as a parliamentary advisor to the Baden-Württemberg state parliament .

He is married and has two children.

Political career

Gehring joined the Greens in 1982 and was spokesman for the Federal Working Group on Education for Alliance 90 / The Greens until 2011 .

In the state elections in 2008 and also in the state elections in 2013 , he ran as a direct candidate in the constituency of Kempten, Oberallgäu and made it into the state parliament via the Schwaben der Grünen constituency list . Since then, he has been deputy parliamentary group leader, parliamentary manager and education policy spokesman for the Greens in the Bavarian state parliament. Gehring is also a member of the Committee on Public Service Issues.

From 2008 to 2014 he was a local councilor in Blaichach and since 2008 he has been a district councilor in Oberallgäu .
