Bernd Kränzle (born September 29, 1942 in Augsburg ) is a German lawyer and politician ( CSU ). From 1990 to 2018 he was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament , from 1993 to 1998 he was State Secretary of the Bavarian State Government .

Life

After graduating from high school, Kränzle studied economics , political science and law from 1964 to 1969 . After his second state examination in 1972, he worked as a councilor in the government of Swabia until 1974 and then moved to the Augsburg Administrative Court as a state attorney . In 1976 he was appointed as personnel, regulatory and Foundation speaker on professional councilor of the city of Augsburg and was until his return as higher regional attorney to the VG Augsburg in 1984 as such operates.

Kränzle started his political career in the Junge Union , of which he was district chairman for Augsburg from 1967 to 1969. In 1972 he was elected to the Augsburg local chairman of the CSU and to the Augsburg city council. From 1989 to 2009 Kränzle was district chairman of the CSU Augsburg, since 1990 a member of the Bavarian State Parliament . In June 1993 he was appointed State Secretary in the Bavarian State Ministry for Education, Culture, Science and Art in the Bavarian State Government and in 1994 moved to the Bavarian State Ministry of Justice as State Secretary . He held this office until 1998, since then he has been a member of the state parliament again and works as a member of the committee for universities, research and culture. Since 2000, Kränzle has also been honorary vice-president of the Bavarian State Sports Association .

In June 2013, together with the Augsburg CSU district chairman Rolf von Hohenhau , he tried to force a pensioner to revoke a letter to the editor that had criticized conditions within the Augsburg CSU, threatening a contractual penalty of 5000 euros. This brought them the accusation of disregarding freedom of expression and wanting to silence unpopular critics. The two then regretted their actions.

Kränzle represented the Augsburg-Stadt-Ost constituency ( Schwaben constituency ) in the state parliament.

Since May 1, 2020 he has been the third honorary mayor of the city of Augsburg .

Bernd Kränzle is married and has two children.
