Mut is a small German party that was founded in June 2017 by Claudia Stamm and Stephan Lessenich , among others .

Claudia Stamm, since 2009 for Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen Bayern in the Bavarian state parliament, resigned from the party in March 2017 and founded the party courage on June 1, 2017 with others . She was a member of the party in the state parliament until October 14, 2018.

According to its own statements, the party advocates “social justice, social diversity, a humane asylum policy, peace policy and ecological sustainability”. The Federal Agency for Civic Education writes in its party profile that the party, which is currently limited to Bavaria, aims “at an ecologically oriented, left-liberal electorate”.

The party is organized as a federal party, but so far only has one regional association in Bavaria. Both the federal association and the regional association are based in Munich. The party's executive board consists of the two chairmen Claudia Stamm and Stephan Lessenich, the additional member Nicole Britz (former chairwoman of the Pirate Party of Bavaria ) and the treasurer Axel Schweiger.

The party ran for the first time in the state election in Bavaria in 2018 . It was represented with lists in all constituencies and with direct candidates in 44 of the 91 constituencies . The party received 45,243 votes, corresponding to a share of 0.3%. In the 2020 city council election in Munich, the party received 0.6% of the vote and was therefore unable to win a seat there. In Landshut, Falk Bräcklein was elected to the city council via the "LINKE / mut" electoral list.

Well-known representatives of the party, in addition to Stamm and Lessenich, are the former Member of the Green Parliament, Renate Ackermann, and radio presenter Matthias Matuschik .
