Awakening German Patriots - Central Germany ( ADPM for short ) is a small German party initiated by André Poggenburg with a national-conservative , right-wing populist and ethnic-nationalist orientation. In terms of program, it is strongly based on the AfD and therefore does not see itself as its political opponent, but rather as a "regional completion in the German party spectrum ".

history

The party was founded by André Poggenburg on January 10, 2019. This took place after Poggenburg had been excluded from all party offices for a period of two years by a decision of the AfD federal board, whereupon he left the AfD and founded ADPM. In a speech he had previously given on the political Ash Wednesday , Poggenburg described all Turks living in Germany as “caraway dealers” and “camel drivers” who “had nothing to look for or to report” in Germany.

Poggenburg said that although he still felt a connection with the AfD and many of its members, due to hysteria within the party, behind which the threat of being watched by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution , it had become apparent that the AfD was no longer really his political home.

In May 2019, the ADPM received 0.6% of the vote for the Zwickau District Council and 0.4% of the votes for the Meißen District Council. On September 1, 2019, the party took part in a state election (in Saxony) for the first time, where it won 0.2% of the vote.

On August 12, 2019, it was announced that André Poggenburg would leave the party as chairman after his application to the party congress the day before, which was supposed to lead to support for the AfD and the dissolution of the ADPM , had failed .

Regional associations and parliamentary presence

Regional associations

The ADPM has a regional association (as of October 2019), the establishment of regional associations in Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia and Brandenburg is in planning.

Mandates at the state level

The founder of the ADPM, André Poggenburg , is a member of the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt . He was elected as a direct candidate in the Zeitz constituency with 31.6% of all first votes for the AfD and, after leaving the AfD in 2019, switched to the ADPM he founded. After leaving the ADPM, the party is no longer represented in a state parliament.

Political positions

The ADPM sees itself as a regional party that particularly represents the interests of the citizens of the East German states . Its aim is to eliminate the differences between East and West while at the same time taking into account the "own mentality of East Germans".

Programmatically, the party is very much based on the AfD.

Multiculturalism is rejected as a “left-wing social experiment” and the EU as an “apparatus driving the multi-cultural mania” that “ tortures the nation states and condemns Germany to be Europe's paymaster”. The Dexit should replace this - Germany's exit from the European Union.

The logo of the party Awakening German Patriots - Central Germany shows a cornflower , in front of it the black, red and gold flag on a blue background.

The cornflower was publicly perceived as a deliberate provocation, as in the 1930s it was the identification symbol of Austria's then banned National Socialists .
