Christoph Rabenstein (* 27. February 1952 in silk joke ) is a German politician of the SPD and was from 1998 to 2018 Member of the Bavarian Parliament .

Life

Rabenstein passed his Abitur in 1973 and did his community service with the Red Cross . He then studied education from 1974 to 1977 . He passed his first teaching examination in 1977 and the second in 1980. 1983 to 1986 followed a successful doctoral degree at the University of Bayreuth with the topic: " Political and journalistic currents in a town in Upper Franconia: Hof 1918-1924 ". From 1984 to 1987 he was a member of the university's academic council . After completing his studies, he worked as a teacher at the elementary school in Münchberg from 1987 to 1998 . He is married and has two children.

politics

Rabenstein became a member of the SPD in 1971 and was chairman of the SPD city association of Bayreuth until 2009 . He is a councilor for the city of Bayreuth. He has been a member of the Bavarian state parliament since 1998 and was elected to parliament via the state list. There he sat in the committee for universities, research and culture as well as in the committee for the environment and consumer protection. For the state election in Bavaria in 2008 , he stood in the constituency of Bayreuth ( constituency of Upper Franconia ) to the voters.

In the 1994 federal election, Rabenstein was defeated by the CSU candidate in the Bundestag constituency of Bayreuth with 37.74% of the vote . In the city of Bayreuth itself, however, he did significantly better than its candidate Hartmut Koschyk .

In September 2019, Rabenstein received the Georg von Vollmar Medal , the highest award of the Bavarian SPD, from the hands of the SPD parliamentary group leader Markus Rinderspacher . In the local elections in 2020 , he was elected to the Bayreuth City Council with 5636 votes .
