Klaus Adelt (born October 19, 1956 in Hof ) is a German local and state politician ( SPD ). From 1990 to 2013 he was mayor of Selbitz in Upper Franconia and has been a member of the Bavarian state parliament since autumn 2013 . He is the spokesman for the Upper Franconian SPD members of the state parliament and a member of the state board of the BayernSPD . In the Bavarian state elections in 2018 , as a direct candidate in the Hof constituency , he received the second most votes (25.6%); Choice. With 24,910 total votes of the SPD in the constituency of Upper Franconia , he again entered the state parliament.

Life

Adelt was born in 1956 as the third child of Walter and Elisabeth Adelt in Hof in Upper Franconia and grew up in Selbitz. He attended elementary school in Selbitz and then high school in Naila , where he graduated from high school in 1976. Adelt studied teaching at the University of Bayreuth and worked in adult education until 1990. In addition to his work as a member of the state parliament, Adelt is self-employed in the stockfish trade, a traditional dish in the Franconian Forest and in parts of the Fichtelgebirge . He is also known as a stick fish expert, gives lectures and gives interviews. Adelt is Roman Catholic and not married.

Political career

In 1974 he joined the SPD and was elected to the city ​​council of his hometown for the first time in 1984 . In 1990 he became mayor of Selbitz and district councilor in the district of Hof . From 1999 to 2008 Adelt was deputy district administrator . From 2008 to 2014 he was the second Vice President of the Bavarian Municipal Council .

Adelt remained mayor of the city of Selbitz until he was elected a member of the Bavarian state parliament for the SPD in the 2013 state election via the list of the constituency of Upper Franconia . With 33.6%, he achieved the second best first vote result of all Bavarian SPD candidates. In his parliamentary group, he is the spokesman for the Upper Franconian SPD members of the state parliament, specialist political spokesman for communal services of general interest and spokesman for public festival politics . In the state parliament he is a member of the committee for municipal issues, internal security and sport, as well as the committee for the environment and consumer protection . In December 2017, he was unanimously re-elected as the SPD's Landtag candidate for the Hof constituency .
