Karsten Januschke

Karsten Januschke (born March 4, 1980 in Bad Segeberg ) is a German conductor .

Career

Januschke studied piano and musicology in Vienna before taking up conducting studies with Georg Mark at the Vienna Conservatory, which he graduated with honors. During his studies, he worked as a solo coach at the Vienna State Opera from 2004, where he conducted children's operas, for example in a version of the Ring of the Nibelung based on Richard Wagner . At the same time he worked regularly at the Theater an der Wien and at the Bayreuth Festival , where he assisted Christian Thielemann and Kirill Petrenko . Assistance at various opera and festival theaters brought him together with conductors such as Seiji Ozawa , Constantinos Carydis and Sebastian Weigle .

In 2008 he worked as musical director for the filming of La Bohème with Anna Netrebko and Rolando Villazón . In 2010 Karsten Januschke made his debut at the podium of the Frankfurt Opera and Museum Orchestra with Georg Philipp Telemann's Pimpinone or Die Unequal Heirat and Lior Navok's The Little Mermaid and has since conducted performances of Die Zauberflöte , Così fan tutte , L'étoile , Mavra , performances of the Frankfurt premiere production of Aulis Sallinens Kullervo as well as in the concert The Nutcracker .

In the 2013/14 season he was the musical director of the new production The Ghost Sonata by Aribert Reimann and conducted performances of the premiere series of Don Giovanni , repertoire performances of the Magic Flute and Così fan tutte and Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet .

In 2013/14 he made his debut with the Deutsche Radiophilharmonie Saarbrücken Kaiserslautern and with the Bochumer Symphoniker . In 2014 he was appointed Kapellmeister of the Frankfurt Opera. In July 2014 he made his debut as the musical director of the production Die Zirkusprinzessin at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz .

He took over the musical direction of the new production of Carmen (director: Christof Nel ) at the Bavarian Theater Academy August Everding and made his debut with the Munich Radio Orchestra , the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn .

In 2016/17 he conducted the new production Der Liebestrank (director: Philipp Himmelmann ) at the opera in the St. Margarethen quarry .
