The New National Theater Tokyo ( Japanese 新 国立 劇場 , Shin Kokuritsu Gekijō , English New National Theater, Tokyo , short: NNTT) is the first state theater in Japan for opera , ballet and dance . In addition, various events take place there, for example a program to train young artists. There is also a costume rental and a library. The theater is located in the district of Shibuya in Tokyo , and is managed by the "Foundation New National Theater". The building has three theaters: Opera Palace Tokyo, Playhouse and The Pit. There are also restaurants and shops. Rehearsal rooms, an information center and a roof garden. The Tokyo Opera City skyscraper is in the immediate vicinity . In contrast to the existing national theater, which continues to be dedicated to traditional Japanese theater, the new national theater has dedicated itself to the goal of serving the future of European theater and opera culture, which is gaining a steadily growing following in Japan.
