Klenzebau: there is another exhibition room in the foyer

The graphics museum Stiftung Schreiner is a museum for art and graphics in Bad Steben . It is housed in the Kurhaus am Kurpark, built in 1911, and in the foyer of the Klenzebau at the thermal baths.

history

The Graphics Museum Stiftung Schreiner was founded in June 1994 by Wolfgang Schreiner († 2015), General Manager and Eastern Europe Director of Leonhard Monheim AG, and Stefanie Barbara Schreiner, also an art collector, and opened on September 20, 1994. Both found support from Peter Ludwig , art patron and chairman of the same group.

Wolfgang Schreiner brought his extensive collection of prints with a focus on art in the GDR and Eastern Europe, especially Bulgaria , to the foundation. Stefanie Schreiner had a similar collection area. As early as 1980, both exhibited art from the West in the GDR and art from the GDR and the East in West Germany.

In the meantime, the name of the museum has been changed to Graphics Museum Schreiner Foundation .

Exhibitions

Due to the collections brought in, one of the main focuses today is on Eastern European prints. The breakdown according to today's political conditions shows how different the conceptions of art were in earlier years in the Soviet Union . Bulgaria has also developed an independent art shown here. Another main topic are the artists from the GDR.

In addition, the museum shows international art and works by regionally important artists in temporary exhibitions . Were under other already Eva Sandberg (China, photography), Atsuko Kato (Japan, graphics), Pablo Picasso (Spain, "The graphic works from the Ludwig Collection"), Horst Janssen (Germany, graphics) and Rudolf Hausner (Austria , Graphics and painting).

The term regional is broad and describes Thuringia , Saxony , Franconia and Bohemia . There are also good connections to the Saale-Galerie in Saalfeld .

  • July to October 2012: Figure and space, painting, graphics, drawing, photography, computer graphics, sculpture and plastic by Liz Bayerlein (Nuremberg), Regina Frieß (Hof), Konstanze Trommer (Erfurt), Frieder H. Wolfram (Hof) and Peter Zaumseil (Elsterberg).

Support association

To support the museum work, an association for the promotion of the Graphic Museum Foundation Schreiner Bad Steben was founded on October 21, 1999 , the first chairman of which was Wolfgang Schreiner. On March 23, 2011 Stefanie Barbara Schreiner was elected as chairwoman.
