Susann Biedefeld (2012)

Susann Biedefeld (born November 2, 1964 in Kulmbach ) is a German politician ( SPD ). She has been a member of the Bavarian State Parliament since 1994 .

Life

Youth, training and professional career

Biedefeld attended the Mainleus elementary school from 1970 and then from 1977 to 1981 the Kulmbach secondary school. Then she attended the technical college in Kulmbach until 1983, where she graduated from high school. She then worked as a freelance journalist in Kulmbach until 1991 and then as managing director of the SPD in Kulmbach until 1994.

Political career

Biedefeld joined the SPD in 1980 and soon after became the district chairman in Lichtenfels and a member of the Upper Franconian district executive . She was general secretary of the Bavarian SPD and from 1996 city councilor of the city of Weismain and district councilor of the Lichtenfels district. From 1996 to 2002 she was also the third mayor of the city of Weismain. She is a member of ver.di , the Bavarian Red Cross and the Arbeiterwohlfahrt as well as the chairwoman of the Frankenakademie Schloss Schney e. V.

Biedefeld has been a member of the state parliament in Bavaria since 1994. From 1994 to 2003 she represented the constituency of Lichtenfels / Coburg-Süd, and since 2003 the constituency of Coburg , where she was elected from the list of the constituency of Upper Franconia . In the thirteenth legislative period she was a full member of the Committee on Regional Development and Environmental Issues and in the fourteenth of the Interim Committee . Biedefeld was deputy SPD parliamentary group leader in the Bavarian state parliament from 2000 to 2008. From 2013 to 2016 she was a member of the Committee for Federal and European Affairs. From 2008 to 2013 and since 2016 she has been a member of the Committee on State Budget and Financial Matters.

On July 20, 2011 she was awarded the Bavarian Order of Merit.

Susann Biedefeld is married to Otto Schuhmann , who also sat for the SPD in the Bavarian state parliament from 1974 to 1994.
