Jürgen Baumgärtner

Jürgen Baumgärtner (born April 24, 1973 in Kronach ) is a German politician ( CSU ) and member of the state parliament. He represents the constituency of Kronach, Lichtenfels in the Bavarian state parliament. He has also been the district chairman of the Frankenwald CSU since 2010.

education and profession

After graduating from secondary school , Baumgärtner completed vocational training as a wholesaler from 1990 to 1993 , followed by further training as a business administrator and business administrator .

In 1994 Baumgärtner joined the German Armed Forces. Most recently he worked there as a career officer with the rank of lieutenant colonel .

past

Baumgärtner was an active member of the Upper Franconian neo-Nazi scene in his youth. He was also a member of the right-wing extremist Aid Organization for National Political Prisoners and their Relatives (HNG) monitored by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution .

Shortly after the fall of the Berlin Wall, he left the neo-Nazi scene and completely distanced himself from right-wing extremist ideas. Then he got involved first in the Catholic youth , later in the Junge Union . Baumgärtner is very open about his past. In his former school he gave several lectures about his experiences in order to educate young people and to keep them from slipping into brown circles. In addition, he reported extensively in numerous press publications about his time in the right-wing extremist scene and his experiences. He emphatically calls for a ban on the NPD .

Election to the Bavarian state parliament and career

In the state elections in 2013 he won the direct mandate in the constituency of Kronach, Lichtenfels and was elected to the Bavarian state parliament with around 48 percent of the votes cast .

In his first term of office he was a member of the Committee for Economy and Media, Infrastructure, Building and Transport, Energy and Technology and the Committee for Health and Care of the Bavarian State Parliament.

In 2018 he ran again in the state elections and was re-elected directly to the Bavarian state parliament on October 14 in the constituency of Kronach, Lichtenfels with a result of 43.1 percent of the votes cast. In the current legislative period he is a member of the newly created committee for housing, construction and transport of the Bavarian state parliament and chairman of the working group housing, construction and transport of the CSU parliamentary group.

In his political work, it is particularly important to him to promote equal living and working conditions throughout Bavaria. The main focus of his political work is the strengthening of structurally weak regions through targeted economic, labor market and transport and infrastructure policies, the maintenance of high-quality medical care close to home and the improvement of the care system by reducing bureaucracy and intensifying research.

Private

Baumgärtner and Emmi Zeulner , a member of the CSU Bundestag, have a daughter.
