Karl-Heinz Jantzen (born September 18, 1921 in Hamburg ; † January 2, 2007 in Bremen ) was a politician of the SPD and a Bremen senator .

biography

education and profession

Jantzen completed an apprenticeship as a toolmaker from 1936 to 1939 , then was a journeyman and apprentice trainer. In the Second World War he served as a soldier from 1943 to 1945 and he was a prisoner of war until 1948. From 1948 to 1956 he worked as a toolmaker. In 1956/1957 he was the secretary of IG Metall in Frankfurt am Main and from 1960 to 1968 he was the first authorized representative in the Bremen administrative office of this union.

politics

Jantzen joined the NSDAP in 1942 and the SPD in 1950. In the SPD, he had various functions in the local association and in the subdistrict.

From 1963 to 1968 he was a member of the Bremen Parliament . From 1968 to 1978 he belonged to changing senates under Hans Koschnick (SPD). From October 16, 1968 to 1971 he was Senator for Work and Health, succeeding the late Karl Weßling (SPD). From 1971 to 1975 he was the successor to Senator Oskar Schulz (SPD) Senator for Economics, Labor and Foreign Trade in Senate Koschnick II . After all, he was Senator for Finance from 1975 to September 4, 1978; he was succeeded by Senator Henning Scherf (SPD) in this office.

After retiring from active politics, Jantzen had been chairman of the Weserbund since 1981 .
