Josef Hattig

Josef Hattig (born June 3, 1931 in Dortmund ; † July 31, 2020 in Bremen ) was a German entrepreneur and politician ( CDU ). From 1990 to 1993 he was President of the German Brewers Association .

Life

Hattig comes from a working class family. After completing a commercial apprenticeship, he passed his Abitur on the second educational path. He then studied law and political science and passed the Second State Examination in 1963. He initially switched to the private sector for a short time, then worked as an assessor in the judicial service in 1965/66 and then in the beverage industry (especially at the Beck & Co. brewery ), where he made a career. From 1992 to 1997 he was President of the Bremen Chamber of Commerce .

Hattig joined the CDU in 1987 and in 1997 took over the office of Bremen Senator for Economic Affairs in the Scherf I Senate , which he held until 2003. From 1996 to 2006 he was Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Post AG, succeeding Helmut Sihler . He then was chairman of the supervisory board of Bremer Lagerhaus-Gesellschaft - Aktiengesellschaft von 1877 - until 2012 .

Josef Hattig had been a commercial member of the Seefahrt company since 1984 .

Hattig died after a long illness at the age of 89.
