Claus Jäger (politician, 1943)
Claus Jäger (born October 17, 1943 in Schaumburg ) is a German politician and Bremen Senator ( FDP ). From 1991 to 1995 he was Senator for Economy, Medium-Sized Enterprises and Technology of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen and from 1991 to 1993 as Mayor he was also Deputy President of the Senate.
biography
education and profession
After graduating from high school in 1964, Jäger completed two years of military service, which he completed as a reserve officer. This was followed by a law degree in Berlin and Göttingen , which he completed in 1971 with the first and 1974 with the second state examination . Since then he has been admitted to the bar. From 1975 to 1979 he was managing director of the FDP parliamentary group in Bremen . In 1982 he was appointed notary.
Claus Jäger is married and has a son and a daughter.
The retired teacher and headmaster as well as local historian, author and photographer Wilko Jäger (* 1939) is his brother.
Political party
Jäger has been a member of the FDP since 1969 . In 1975 he became chairman of the FDP local branch in Lesum for two years . From 1984 to 1986 he was chairman of the parliamentary working group of the Bremen FDP. From 1986 to 1988 and from 1999 to 2003 he was the Bremen state chairman of his party. He was a member of the FDP federal executive from 1986 to 1988 and from 1999 to 2005.
MP and Senator
Jäger was a member of the Burg-Lesum local council from 1975 to 1979. From 1979 to 1983 and from 1987 to 1991 he was a member of the Bremen citizenship and from 1987 to 1991 also chairman of the FDP parliamentary group . In 1989 he was a member of the Federal Assembly , which Richard von Weizsäcker re-elected as Federal President.
Jäger was elected Senator for Economics, Medium-Sized Enterprises and Technology of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen on December 11, 1991 . From that day until November 2, 1993 , as mayor, he was also Deputy President of the Senate. Because of the change of government after the state elections in 1995 , Jäger resigned from the Bremen state government.
