Horst-Jürgen Lahmann (born June 1, 1935 in Horsten , East Frisia ) is a German lawyer , administrative officer and politician ( FDP ).

Life

education and profession

After graduating from high school, Lahmann studied law and political science at the University of Kiel and the University of Tübingen . He passed the first state examination in 1960 and the second state examination in 1964. From 1965 he worked in the Bremen civil service in the tax authorities and from 1969 to 1971 as personal and financial advisor to Finance Senator Rolf Speckmann .

After his time in parliament, Lahmann switched to the administration of European politics via the Friedrich Naumann Foundation . In 1990 he was seconded to the European Commission in Brussels and until 1992 was a member of the cabinet of Vice President Martin Bangemann . He then acted as Bangemann's special advisor for commercial and maritime industries .

From 1992 to 1997, Lahmann was the representative of the Senate of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen and headed the first Bremen representation in Berlin after reunification. He has been working as a lawyer in Bremen since 1997.

Lahmann is married and has three children.

Lahmann joined the FDP in 1970. From 1974 to 1984 he was state chairman of the FDP Bremen , from 1977 to 1984 a member of the FDP federal presidium and from 1974 to 1986 chairman of the FDP federal committee for finance and taxes, of which he is now again an expert, especially for federalism reform and financial equalization. He was also a member of the Executive Committee of the European Liberal and Democratic Parties. In 1984 he was scheduled to be President of the Bremen Regional Finance Directorate . However, he could not take up this office because the Bremen public prosecutor's office accused him and his former treasurer and successor in the office of FDP state chairman, Walter Ostendorff, for using FDP parliamentary group funds for the party from 1979 to 1983.

From 1971 to 1983 he was a member of the Bremen citizenship and was active in various deputations and committees of the citizenship. From 1975 to 1983 he was the successor to Harry John chairman of the FDP parliamentary group.

From 1985 to 1990 he was head of the domestic department and deputy chairman of the management of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation . After his return to Bremen in 1997, Lahmann became involved in the Liberal Society and became its chairman. He was also temporarily a member of the board of trustees of the Wolf-Erich-Kellner Memorial Foundation .
