Wilko Jäger (* 1939 in Bremen ) was a German teacher and headmaster and is a local historian , author and photographer.

biography

Jäger grew up in the Lesum district and attended the Gerhard Rohlfs School . After training as a school teacher , he went into school service and initially taught as a teacher in Bremen- Farge from 1961 .
In 1967 Jäger became
headmaster of the primary school in the then independent municipality of Meyenburg (since 1975 Schwanewede ) . He moved to Meyenburg with his family. He accompanied the school development in Meyenburg from the village school "with two years in one room to a modern single-class primary school" and advocated the expansion of the school building with a sports hall and auditorium . In 2004 he retired.

In addition to his teaching profession tried hunters as volunteers for the preservation and rehabilitation of the Meyenburger water mill , called a working group on the village beautification and home care to life, wrote a Dorfchronik and sat varied for the educational and cultural work in his adopted homeland. As a local historian, he has long been concerned with regional history and as a photographer with landscape photography . He gave numerous slide lectures on the northern German landscape and his many trips “to near and far”, published photo calendars, had photo exhibitions and published several books , especially on local history topics and illustrated books . He is involved in the regional and cultural magazine Heimat-Rundblick , which has been published quarterly since 1987 and in which regional topics from history, culture and nature are published. He is part of the editorial team and also wrote numerous articles himself and illustrated the magazine with numerous photographs.

In addition, Jäger is also active artistically. After painting as a child and in the late 1970s / early 1980s, he has been painting again since around 2008. He finds the motifs for his oil paintings mainly in his home region. Among other things, he had exhibitions of his paintings, partly supplemented with his photographs, in the city library in Lesum, in Schönebeck Palace, in the Schwanewede meeting place and in the district building in Osterholz-Scharmbeck.

Jäger is married and lives with his wife in Schwanewede-Meyenburg. The couple have several children.
The former mayor and senator of Bremen Claus Jäger (* 1943) is his brother.

Memberships and honorary positions

  • Jäger is a member of the working group for village beautification and home care Meyenburg e. V. and its chairman since it was founded in 1968. In addition to numerous other projects, the working group also oversees the historic Meyenburg watermill , for the preservation and renovation of which it has made a significant contribution. a. is used for small exhibitions and events.
  • From 1974 to 1986 he was honorary local mayor in Meyenburg.
