Manfred River

Manfred Fluß (born November 30, 1943 in Forst (Lausitz) ) is a Bremen politician, senator, teacher and businessman.

biography

education and profession

After his escape at the end of World War II, Fluß has lived in Bremen (since 1946). In 1963 he completed his Abitur at the old grammar school in Bremen and then completed his military service until 1965. From 1965 to 1971 he studied mathematics and physics at the Universities of Freiburg and Hamburg, where he graduated as a mathematician. From 1971 to 1979 he was a research assistant, trainee lawyer (second state examination), study assessor for mathematics and physics and a freelance lecturer in further education.

While he was a member of parliament, he was given leave of absence as a teacher.

politics

In 1969, Fluß joined the SPD in Bremen and took on a large number of voluntary activities in the branches of the SPD.

From 1971 to 1999 he was a member of the Bremen Parliament . From 1974 to 1991 he was the spokesman for the Deputation for Science and Art and a member of the Deputation for Construction, Education and Sport. He was also the spokesman for science, culture and media policy for the SPD parliamentary group and a member of the SPD media commission at the federal level. He was chairman of four legislative parliamentary committees, namely for the Radio Bremen Act (1979), the State University Act, the State Media Act (passed in 1988) and the Constitutional Reform Committee (1993/1994). From 1974 to 1994 he was a member of the Broadcasting Council of Radio Bremen and from 1980 to 1994 a member of the ARD television program advisory board.

From June 29, 1994 to July 4, 1995 he was the successor of Volker Kröning (SPD) Senator for Finances in the Senate Wedemeier III . He was followed by Senator Ulrich Nölle ( CDU ).

Professional activity outside the civil service

Since 1986 Manfred Fluß has been the owner or managing partner of the import and export company Erhard Andreas GmbH, a company that imports dried insects and other fish and bird feed.

Since December 1995, the river also managing partner of NTH Maritime GmbH and several shipping partnerships in Lilienthal near Bremen.

Volunteering

Since 2001 he has been chairman of the board of trustees of the Nolting Hauff Foundation and since 2003 member of the board of the Stiftungshaus Bremen e. V. From 2001 to 2014 he was chairman of the board of the Conrad Naber Foundation. Since 2010 he has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the University of Bremen Foundation and since 2015 Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Manfred and Ursula Fluß Foundation at the University of Bremen.

Private

Manfred Fluß is married to Ursula Fluß, née Winter; they have two children.
