Conrad Naber

Conrad Naber (born July 1, 1922 in Bremen ; † January 29, 2018 ) was a German entrepreneur with the Nabertherm companies and the NTH ship group .

biography

Naber - a son of the Bremen entrepreneur Conrad Naber († 1925) - attended elementary and high school in Bremen's old town from 1928 to 1938. After an internship at the Atlas works from 1938 to 1940, Naber began studying mechanical engineering in 1940. During the Second World War he was a soldier in the Wehrmacht from 1941 to 1945. After the end of the war, he worked as a fitter for an apparatus construction company in Bremen. In 1946 he continued his studies at the building and engineering school in Bremen and graduated in 1947 as a mechanical engineer .

In 1947 the company was founded by Conrad Naber Industrieofenbau , based in Bremen- Schwachhausen , Clausewitzstrasse 27. The company manufactured kilns for a wide variety of purposes. In 1951 he took over the Prien art and building metalworking shop in Bremen-Schwachhausen. In 1954 the company headquarters was relocated to Lilienthal ; the company had 25 employees. In 1955 the Käthe Naber Foundation was established. In 1960 the company had 60 employees and a turnover of 1.4 million marks. In 1967 the company was converted into a limited partnership (KG) with a turnover of 4 million marks. From 1960 he participated in the construction of the Schnoor by closing the vacant lot Schnoor No. 8, a gallery for young artists.

From 1970 to 1982 Naber was an honorary judge at the Lower Saxony tax court . In 1971 the company acquired the Lilienthal train station of the Jan Reiners small train . From 1971 to 1976 he completed a second degree in economics at the University of Bremen , which he completed in 1976. In 1974 Nabertherm employed 105 people and achieved sales of 8.7 million marks. From 1975 to 1983 Naber was on the expert committee of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) Stade and from 1982 to 1994 chairman of the industry committee of this IHK. In 1977 he founded Naber Schiffs- GmbH and in 1979 Naber, Thien & Heyenga GmbH + Co. KG (NTH KG). In 1990 Nabertherm achieved sales of 42 million marks with 230 employees. In 2001 Conrad Naber handed over the management to the Lilienthal business graduate Friedrich-Wilhelm Wentrot (* 1951), who had previously headed Brilliant AG in Gnarrenburg. Naber became chairman of the supervisory board of Nabertherm and remained so until 2007.

Naber's first marriage has four children.
