Alicia Marie Quinn (born Alicia Marie Sacramone on December 3, 1987 in Boston , Massachusetts ) is a former American gymnast and world champion. She won a silver medal with the US team at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing and a total of ten medals at gymnastics world championships, four of which were gold.

Life

Quinn was born on December 3, 1987. Her parents are Fred and Gail Sacramone. She is of Italian descent and has an older brother. In August 2013, she announced her engagement to American football player Brady Quinn. Their wedding took place in March 2014. Their daughter Sloan Scott Quinn was born on August 5, 2016.

She started gymnastics when she was eight. In 2003 she was appointed to the American team. At the World Championships in 2005, 2006 and 2007, she won two world titles and a total of seven medals. In 2008 she won silver with the team at the Beijing Olympics and came fourth on the vault. After the Olympic Games, she announced her retirement, but started a comeback in 2010 and won gold at the jump and silver with the team at the World Championships in Rotterdam . At the 2011 World Championships in Tokyo , she won the gold medal with the team, although she was unable to compete due to an injury. With a total of 10 medals at world championships, she was the most successful American gymnast at world championships at the time. In 2015, Simone Biles exceeded this record. Sacramone tried again in 2012 to qualify for the Olympic Games , but was not nominated for the American team despite two 2nd places in the American preliminary rounds (on the vault and on the balance beam). She then announced her retirement from top-class sport in January 2013.
