history

The company was founded on August 1st, 1951 as "Brillantglashütte oHG / Lippold & Tschammer" in Gnarrenburg. The peat produced during the mining of the required raw material quartz served as an energy source for the operation of the glassworks.

In 1976 the company moved into the factory building at its current location in Karlshöfenerberg. At the end of the 1970s the name "Brillantglashütte KG" was changed to "Brillantuchten AG". With changes in product development, a focus on spots or emitters began.

In 1985 the stock corporation went public at the trading venues in Bremen and Frankfurt. In 1991 the company name was changed again. In the course of internationalization , "Brillantuchten AG" became Brilliant AG . Between 1994 and 1997 the location was expanded to become the "Brilliant Industrial Park". In 2000 the American "Sylvania Lighting International, Inc." (SLi Inc.) became a new major shareholder. With the sale of halogen, normal and energy-saving lamps as well as fluorescent tubes from the "SLi Inc." program, new products were added to the range.

Brilliant AG relocated a large part of the production abroad. Only the areas of sales, administration, construction, design and logistics remained at the location. The majority of the lights are still created by the company's own European design team and supported by international trend scouting.
