biography

education and profession

Nölle attended secondary school and then the commercial college. From 1961 to 1963 he did an apprenticeship at the Sparkasse Dortmund and earned thereafter in the Sparkassenakademie the conclusion of the Savings Bank Administration . 1972 to 1977 he was a deputy board member of Sparkasse Dortmund. From 1977 to 1981 he was a member of the board of the Sparkasse Hannover , 1981 to 1995 on the board of the Sparkasse Bremen . In 1999 he became a managing partner of Airport-Immobilien-Verwaltungs KG (AIV).

politics

In January 1991 Nölle joined the CDU in Bremen and became deputy state chairman in 1992.

In the Bremen mayor elections in 1991 , he stood for the first time as the top candidate against mayor and Senate President Klaus Wedemeier (SPD). In this election, the CDU gained 7.3 percentage points, while the SPD lost its absolute majority for the first time in 20 years. Wedemeier then formed a coalition with the FDP and the Greens , so that the CDU remained in the opposition.

Nölle then became a member of the Bremen citizenship on October 17, 1991. From 1991 to 1995 he was also Vice President and Member of the Board of the Bremen Citizenship.

For the 1995 state elections , Nölle ran again as the top candidate against Wedemeier. In this election, the SPD again lost votes, so that with 33.4 percent of the vote it was only able to assert itself as the strongest force, just ahead of the CDU, which was almost level with 32.6 percent. The SPD's lead of 0.8 percentage points is still the historically narrowest lead of the Bremen SPD over the CDU.

As a result, Mayor Wedemeier announced his resignation. The SPD in Bremen nominated Henning Scherf as the new mayor in a strike vote , but at the same time gave preference to a coalition with the CDU over a possible Red-Green coalition.

In the new legislative period, a grand coalition was then formed in which Nölle was Senator for Finance in the first Scherf Senate from 1995 to 1997 . During this time, his mandate was suspended.

On November 30, 2000, he resigned his mandate.

Private

Nölle is married and has four children.

Due to speculation, Nölle got into financial difficulties privately. In November 2004, the Dresden District Court therefore issued four arrest orders against him and his wife. He evaded enforcement that same year by fleeing to his villa on Mallorca .

Honors

In 1995, the Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences made Ulrich Nölle an honorary citizen.
