Sensor web enablement
The Sensor Web Enablement ( SWE ) is an initiative of the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC), which extends the Web Service Framework with additional services for the web integration of sensors and sensor networks.
aims
The aim of SWE is to involve and motivate the OGC members in the development and linking of various sensor-related standards. The standards should make it possible to make parts of developments reusable and thus save unnecessary effort. In addition, the standards are intended to serve as guidelines for future projects. Uniform projects can only be created through specifications.
commitment
Seven types belong to the SWE - five of which are often used, often in combination:
- Observations & Measurements (O&M) - Specification that describes a framework for coding measurements, measured values and observations
- Sensor Model Language (SensorML) - Markup Language for describing data and the methods by which it is obtained
- Transducer Markup Language (TML)
- Sensor Observation Service (SOS) - The Sensor Observation Service is an "API for controlling integrated sensors and receiving sensor and observation data"
- Sensor Planning Service (SPS) - for planning tasks for sensors or sensor networks
