Susanne Hoffmann (born February 2, 1960 in Berlin ) is a German administrative lawyer and politician . She was Attorney General from June to November 2019 and has been Minister of Justice of the State of Brandenburg since November 2019 .

Life

Hoffmann studied law at the Free University of Berlin from 1978 to 1984 . After passing both state examinations in law, she worked as a public prosecutor at the Berlin public prosecutor's office from December 1987 , where she was responsible, among other things, for extensive proceedings in the area of ​​organized crime. In March 1993 she was seconded to the public prosecutor's office at the Berlin Court of Appeal and there promoted to senior public prosecutor in July 1995. From April 2000 she was head of department and deputy head of department in the criminal law department of the Berlin Senate Department for Justice .

In November 2005, Hoffmann moved to the General Public Prosecutor's Office for the State of Brandenburg, was promoted to Chief Public Prosecutor and acted as head of department and permanent representative of the General Public Prosecutor. From September 2008 to June 2019 she headed various departments of the Ministry of Justice and for Europe and Consumer Protection of the State of Brandenburg, most recently as the head of the department for public law, private law and criminal law, she was responsible for all public prosecutor's offices in Brandenburg. From June 17 to November 20, 2019, she was the successor to Erardo Rautenberg's Attorney General for the State of Brandenburg.

On November 20, 2019, Hoffmann was appointed Minister of Justice to the state government led by Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke at the suggestion of the CDU .
