Kathrin Schneider

Kathrin Schneider (born September 30, 1962 in Lübben ) is a German politician ( SPD ). From November 5, 2014 to November 20, 2019, she was Minister for Infrastructure and State Planning of the State of Brandenburg . Since November 20, 2019, she has been head of the Brandenburg State Chancellery with the rank of minister.

Life and work

Kathrin Schneider began studying agricultural sciences with a focus on plant production at the Humboldt University in Berlin in 1981 , which she completed in 1986 as a qualified agricultural engineer. Then she was in the District Planning Commission of the Council of the district Cottbus operates. After the fall of the Berlin Wall , she moved to the Mining Department of the Cottbus district administration in 1990.

In 1992 she began as a consultant for lignite and redevelopment planning in the joint state planning department Berlin-Brandenburg in the Brandenburg Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Spatial Planning and in 2002 took over the department head. In addition, in 2003 she became head of the department for adaptation of the land-use planning. In 2005, she moved to the budget, fundamental financial issues, financial auditing, EU affairs department in the Brandenburg Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Planning, until in 2009 she became head of the joint state planning department Berlin-Brandenburg in the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Planning / Ministry of Infrastructure and Agriculture . From December 13, 2010 to March 18, 2013 she was also chair of the “Aircraft Noise Commission Berlin-Schönefeld ”.

Kathrin Schneider has two children and lives in Märkische Heide .

Public offices

On January 30, 2013, Kathrin Schneider was appointed State Secretary in the Ministry for Infrastructure and Agriculture of the State of Brandenburg, headed by Jörg Vogelsänger .

After the 6th election to the state parliament of Brandenburg , she was appointed Minister for Infrastructure and State Planning on November 5, 2014 by Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke . On the same day, she was appointed as a deputy member of the Federal Council , where she was elected chairman of the committee for urban development, housing and regional planning on November 28, 2014.

Kathrin Schneider came to the ministerial office as an independent politician at the suggestion of the SPD and joined the SPD in November 2015.
