Clemens Appel

Clemens Appel (born June 28, 1953 in Bad Godesberg ) is a German specialist lawyer ( media law and labor law ), politician ( former state secretary ) and management consultant .

Life

Clemens Appel spent his childhood in the Kessenich district of Bonn , where he grew up as the middle of three children of the journalist Reinhard Appel .

Appel studied law at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn . From 1983 to 1988 he was a judge of the labor courts in North Rhine-Westphalia (Cologne, Aachen, Siegburg).

Political career

Appel then started his political career as head of the labor and staff representation law department of the Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Affairs of North Rhine-Westphalia (1988–1991). In 1991 he moved to Brandenburg and became head of the Labor and Collective Bargaining Law and Labor Jurisdiction Department at the Brandenburg Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs, Health and Women . In 1993 he was appointed Vice President of the Brandenburg State Labor Court .

From 1996 to 1999 Appel was State Secretary in the Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs, Health and Women of the State of Brandenburg. From 1999 to 2004 he held the office of State Secretary in the Ministry for Urban Development, Housing and Transport of the State of Brandenburg , before he was head of the State Chancellery from October of the same year to November 2009.

In his former role as head of the State Chancellery, Appel was in charge of broadcast policy issues, was also significantly involved in the preparations and negotiations for the German Film Funding Fund and thus made a significant contribution to securing Berlin-Brandenburg as a media and film location.

In 2010 Appel founded Goldmedia Political & Staff Advising GmbH in Berlin. The company offers consulting services in the field of politics and personnel development and is part of the Goldmedia group .

Since August 2012, Clemens Appel has been the responsible editor-in-chief of www.medienpolitik.net, a portal for media and network politics.

Clemens Appel has been a licensed attorney in Potsdam since July 2015.
