Manja Schüle
Manja Schüle (born Manja Orlowski on August 4, 1976 in Frankfurt (Oder) , GDR ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and was a directly elected member of the German Bundestag . Since November 20, 2019, she has been Minister for Science, Research and Culture of the State of Brandenburg in the Woidke III cabinet .
Personal and professional
Manja Schüle was born on August 4, 1976 in Frankfurt (Oder) and grew up there. In 1996 she moved to Potsdam . She studied at the University of Potsdam and completed her studies in political science there in 2006 as a doctoral scholarship from the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung with a dissertation on political education as a doctorate. rer. pole. from. From 1997 to 2006 she worked for Ingrid Siebke ( MdL ), Christel Redepenning (MdL) and Norbert Glante ( MdEP) . From 2007 to 2008 she was a lecturer at the University of Potsdam at Werner Jann's chair . Manja Schüle has been involved with the Jusos , the youth organization of the Social Democratic Party of Germany , since 1996 . Among other things, she was deputy state chairwoman of the SPD youth organization in Brandenburg and active in the Juso university group at the University of Potsdam . Manja Schüle has been a member of the SPD since 1998. Since 2011 Manja Schüle has been the state chairman of the working group for education in the SPD AfB and an advisory member of the SPD state executive committee. From 2008 to 2012 Manja Schüle was a city councilor for the state capital Potsdam. For professional reasons, Manja Schüle renounced her mandate as a city councilor in 2012 and was then appointed as an expert resident to the Committee for Education and Sport, of which she was a member until the 2014 local elections.
After an internal party selection process, Manja Schüle was nominated as a direct candidate of the SPD for election to the German Bundestag in the constituency of Potsdam - Potsdam-Mittelmark II - Teltow-Fläming II at a constituency delegate conference on September 26, 2016 . In the federal election on September 24, 2017, she won the direct mandate with 26.1% of the first votes. She is the only member of the SPD who was able to win a direct mandate in the federal elections in a large eastern German state. Schüle was a full member of the Committee on Education, Research and Technology Assessment of the German Bundestag and a deputy member of the Committee on Economics and Energy .
On November 20, 2019, she was appointed Minister for Science, Research and Culture of the State of Brandenburg. She resigned her Bundestag mandate on December 2nd, followed by Sylvia Lehmann .

Manja Schüle is a member of the Arbeiterwohlfahrt (AWO) , IG-Metall , the German Association for Civic Education (DvpB), the Social Democratic Community for Local Politics (SGK) , the German-Israeli Society (DIG) , the Bauverein Synagoge Potsdam eV, im Auto Club Europe (ACE) . In addition, Manja Schüle is a founding member of the Local Alliance for Families Potsdam North-West.
