Christel Redepenning

Christel Redepenning (born May 27, 1947 in Kyritz ) is a German politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

Born as the daughter of an educator and a master confectioner, Christel Redepenning grew up with five siblings in Kyritz, Brandenburg. In 1972 she obtained her technical college degree as an educator for after-school care and home care. She worked as an educator in the Kyritz children's home, later in the after-school care center of the Wilhelm-Pieck-Schule in Kyritz and then until 1991 as the director of the after-school care center at the Jahn-Schule in Kyritz. Redepenning is married and has one child.

In 1990 Redepenning joined the SPD. In the same year she was elected to the city ​​council of Kyritz. In 1995 she became chairwoman of the local SPD association in Kyritzer.

On September 5, 1995, she was as Nachrückerin for Kühbacher Klaus-Dieter member of the Brandenburg state parliament . In the following state election in 1999 , Redepenning was elected to the Potsdam state parliament as a direct candidate for the SPD in constituency 3 (Ostprignitz-Ruppin I). She was a member of parliament until October 13, 2004. In the state parliament she was a member of the committee for science, research and culture from 1995 to 1999 and from 1999 to 2004 a member of the committees for budgetary control and for education, youth and sport.

Redepenning was at times a member of the state youth welfare committee and is a member of the board of the Ostprignitz-Ruppin district association of the workers' welfare organization .
