Klaus-Dieter Kühbacher

Klaus-Dieter Kühbacher (born October 30, 1943 in Heerlen , Netherlands ) is a German civil servant and politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

After completing secondary school, Kühbacher completed an apprenticeship in local government from 1960 and then worked in the administrative service. He embarked on a civil service career in the higher service, attended the Administration and Business Academy of the Technical University of Braunschweig from 1963 to 1966 and passed the diploma examination there. 1966/67 he worked as a city inspector in Braunschweig .

Kühbacher did military service in 1967/68 and was subsequently a reserve officer in the Bundeswehr . From 1968 to 1974 he was again active as a municipal civil servant in Braunschweig, where he was last promoted to city administrator. He was also a lecturer for administration and social work at the Braunschweig University of Applied Sciences from 1968 to 1976.

From 1995 to 2002, Kühbacher was President of the Landeszentralbank Berlin / Brandenburg. At the same time he was a member of the Central Bank Council of the Deutsche Bundesbank .

Political party

Kühbacher has been a member of the SPD since 1962. He had been a board member of the SPD district of Braunschweig since 1974 and was elected to the state board of the SPD Lower Saxony in 1980.

MP

Kühbacher was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament from 1974 to 1976 , where he was a member of the budget and finance committee.

In the federal election in 1976 he was elected to the German Bundestag . Here he was also a member of the Budget and Finance Committee. From 1976 to 1983 he represented the Braunschweig constituency in parliament . He then moved into parliament through the state list of the SPD Lower Saxony until he left the Bundestag in 1990 .

From October 1994 to August 1995 he was a member of the Brandenburg State Parliament .

Public offices

On November 1, 1990, Kühbacher was appointed finance minister in the government of the state of Brandenburg led by Prime Minister Manfred Stolpe . During his tenure, he played a key role in setting up a new financial administration. After his appointment as President of the State Central Bank, he resigned from the government on October 11, 1995 and was replaced in his function by Wilma Simon .
