Sylvia Lehmann (born April 23, 1954 in Schorbus , today part of Drebkau ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and has been a member of the German Bundestag since December 3, 2019 . Between 2004 and 2019 she was a member of the Brandenburg state parliament .

Life and work

Sylvia Lehmann was adopted at the age of three and grew up in Dollgen ( Märkische Heide municipality ). She made 1970-1973 vocational training as an industrial clerk in the county operation of Agricultural Engineering in Gross Leuthen . This was followed by a degree in economics from 1974 to 1978 at the University of Applied Sciences in Weimar , where she graduated as an engineering economist . She worked in various areas of agriculture until 1989 and was most recently chief accountant at LPG  (P) Groß Leine .

After reunification , she worked from 1990 to 1993 as a finance officer in the Lübben district . From 1991 to 1994 she trained as an administrative clerk for the higher service, which she completed at the Institute for Local and Administrative Sciences in North Rhine-Westphalia. From 1994 to 2004 she was the head of the education, culture, youth, health and social affairs department in the Dahme-Spreewald district

Sylvia Lehmann is Protestant, married and has two children.

Political commitment

Sylvia Lehmann has been a member of the SPD since 1990. In the state elections in October 2004 , she entered the Dahme-Spreewald III state electoral district and entered the Brandenburg state parliament via the state list of her party. In 2009 and 2014 she won the direct mandate in the same constituency. For her parliamentary group , Lehmann was a member of the Committee on Labor, Social Affairs, Health and Family. Since August 2006 she has been deputy leader of the SPD parliamentary group. To state election in 2019 it did not happen again.

In the 2017 federal election , Lehmann stood for the SPD in the federal constituency of Dahme-Spreewald - Teltow-Fläming III - Oberspreewald-Lausitz I , but was unable to prevail against Jana Schimke from the CDU, and 5th place on the state list of the SPD Brandenburg was initially enough not for entry into the German Bundestag . After Manja Schüle had become Brandenburg Minister for Science, Research and Culture in November 2019, Lehmann moved up for her on December 3rd.

In addition to parliamentary work, she is active in various clubs and associations. She is an honorary member of the advisory board of the AWO care services and honorary president of the Brandenburg Adult Education Association. V.
