Märkische Heide , Markojska góla in Lower Sorbian , is a municipality in the Dahme-Spreewald district in Brandenburg . The municipality of Märkische Heide in Niederlausitz, with over 200 km², is one of the largest in Germany and is partly part of the recognized settlement area of the Sorbs / Wends .

history
The community was created on October 26, 2003 from the amalgamation of 17 previously independent communities, which today form the districts.
The districts of Dollgen, Groß Leuthen, Klein Leine and Pretschen are part of the official settlement area of the Sorbs / Wends.

The 17 districts are symbolized by a board with 17 golden discs. The predominant mixed forest is represented by pine apples and acorns, each a typical Brandenburg conifer and deciduous tree, each in a three-pass.

Attractions
In the list of architectural monuments in Märkische Heide and in the list of ground monuments in Märkische Heide are the cultural monuments entered in the list of monuments of the state of Brandenburg. In particular, these are:
- Groß Leuthen Castle , several times rebuilt Renaissance castle on the foundation walls of a moated castle from the 12th century
- Soviet memorial from 1946 in the cemetery of the Krugau district for 42 perished women, men and children who had to do forced labor in an armaments factory during the Second World War
- The core of the village church Groß Leine was built in the 15th century and extensively rebuilt from 1906 to 1910. The church furnishings include an altar from the 3rd quarter of the 17th century, in which parts of an older altar from the first half of the 15th century are embedded.
- The village church Krugau is a field stone church from the 15th century. Inside there is a pulpit altar from the beginning of the 18th century.

The Krugau , Großleuthen-Gröditsch , Bückchen and Wittmannsdorf stops were on the Lübben – Beeskow West railway line , on which passenger traffic was discontinued in 2008.
