history

Drahnsdorf and Falkenhain belonged to the district of Luckau in the province of Brandenburg since 1816 and from 1952 to the district of Luckau in the GDR district of Cottbus . Since 1993, the places have been in the Dahme-Spreewald district of Brandenburg.

The formerly independent communities Drahnsdorf and Falkenhain merged on December 31, 2002 to form the community Drahnsdorf. Up to this point Drahnsdorf belonged to the Luckau office , Falkenhain to the Golßener Land office . The newly created community became part of the Golßener Land office before moving to the newly created Unterspreewald office on January 1, 2013 .

The Falkenhain district was first mentioned in documents in 1409 and Schäcksdorf in 1527. By resolution of the Congress of Vienna in 1815, Lower Lusatia, previously Saxon, and with it Drahnsdorf, Prussian and the province of Brandenburg were attached. In the 19th century, the Drahnsdorf estate belonged to the Barons von Manteuffel . At the end of 1858 Otto von Manteuffel retired here after his dismissal as Prussian Prime Minister.
