The communities Fürstlich Drehna and Bergen (Luckau district) were assigned to the Luckau office on September 4, 1992 by the Brandenburg Ministry of the Interior. On November 30, 1997 the community of Gießmannsdorf was incorporated into the city of Luckau, on September 1, 1998 Zieckau was incorporated and on December 31, 1998 the community of Bergen followed.

On December 31, 1999, the communities Egsdorf, Willmersdorf-Stöbritz, Kreblitz, Karche-Zaacko, Kümmritz and Fürstlich Drehna were incorporated into the city of Luckau. Freesdorf followed on December 31, 2000. Terpt was incorporated on December 31, 2001.

The municipalities of Cahnsdorf, Duben, Görlsdorf and Schlabendorf were incorporated into the city of Luckau by law on October 26, 2003. The office of Luckau was dissolved, the city of Luckau vacant. The office had z. At its dissolution 10,736 inhabitants.

The municipality Drahnsdorf, however, merged with the municipality Falkenhain ( Amt Golßener Land ) to form the new municipality Drahnsdorf and moved to the Amt Golßener Land (today Amt Unterspreewald ).

The municipalities of Cahnsdorf, Duben, Görlsdorf and Schlabendorf filed a municipal constitutional complaint before the constitutional court of the state of Brandenburg against their incorporation into the city of Luckau, which was rejected.
