Two kilometers to the east was the devastated district of Stossdorf , where the stossdorfer See is being created today as part of the recultivation of the Schlabendorf-Nord opencast mine .

The district of Egsdorf borders in the north on Willmersdorf-Stöbritz , in the north-east on Hindenberg , in the east on the former open-cast mine, in the south-east on Zinnitz , in the south on Schlabendorf am See , in the south-west on Görlsdorf and in the west on Cahnsdorf .

With the exception of the location, this also applies to the Luckauer Becken bird sanctuary. In addition, there are protected areas with partial areas on the district: the FFH areas Luckauer Salzstellen and Stossdorfer See, the nature reserve Ostufer Stossdorfer See and the landscape protection area post- mining landscape Schlabendorf-Seese .

history

The place was first mentioned in documents in 1447, at that time under its previous name Egistorff .

From 1815 Egsdorf was assigned to the newly created administrative district of Frankfurt in the province of Brandenburg and from 1816 a part of the newly formed Luckau district .

In 1844 there were 24 residential buildings, a windmill and a manor in the village. The latter was in the possession of the nobleman Benno von Langenn , lord of Egsdorf at that time . A total of 135 residents lived here at that time.

Since 1952 the place belonged to the district Luckau in the district Cottbus . On May 17, 1990, the district was renamed the Luckau district and the previous Cottbus district was dissolved as part of the reunification. From May 25, 1992, the municipality of Egsdorf together with 15 other municipalities and the city of Luckau formed the newly created Luckau Office .

On December 6, 1993 the village came to the district of Dahme-Spreewald as part of the district reform in Brandenburg and on December 31, 1999 the municipality of Egsdorf was incorporated into the city of Luckau together with five other places.
