The Schlabendorf-Nord open-cast lignite mine is a former open-cast mine in the Lausitz lignite district in Brandenburg . It was named after the district Schlabendorf am See in the city of Luckau in the district of Dahme-Spreewald . The former power plants Lübbenau and Vetschau were supplied with raw coal from this opencast mine between 1961 and 1977.
history
The Council of Ministers of the GDR decided in 1957 to create the Schlabendorf-Nord opencast mine with the coal and energy program. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on March 17, 1957 , while preparations for lowering the groundwater level began. In 1959 the open-cast mine began and a year later the bridges over the A 13 and A 15 for the coal railway to the Lübbenau power station were completed. The first coal was mined in 1961 and the first overburden conveyor bridge F 34-25 went into operation. The second overburden conveyor bridge F 34-26 was put into operation a year later and moved to the Profen opencast mine in 1970 . The open-cast mine was closed in 1977 and the last overburden conveyor bridge was moved to the Schlabendorf-Süd open-cast mine . After the turn of the renovation work began in 1997 and was reserve Schlabendorfer mining landscape -Lichtenauer lake built.
