The Schlabendorf-Süd open-cast lignite mine is a former open-cast mine in the Lusatian lignite district in Brandenburg . It was named after the district Schlabendorf am See in the city of Luckau in the district of Dahme-Spreewald . The former Lübbenau and Vetschau power plants were supplied with raw coal from this opencast mine between 1976 and 1991.
history
In 1975 the open-cast mine began to be exposed and the first coal could be mined a year later. The overburden conveyor bridges F 34-25 (from the Schlabendorf-Nord opencast mine ) and F 34-28 (from the Seese-West opencast mine ) went into operation in 1977. Parts of the Schlossparke Zinnitz and Fürstlich Drehna were dredged over in 1975 and 1982 and then recultivated . The open-cast mine was closed in 1991 and the Stiebsdorfer See as well as the nature reserves Wanninchen and Drehnaer Weinberg and Stiebsdorfer See , as well as the recreation and leisure center Marina Schlabendorf am See , which is currently under development , emerged as post-mining landscapes .
