location

It is located west of Calau in the Brandenburg districts of Dahme-Spreewald and Elbe-Elster . The A 13 is to the east of the lake .

history

The lake emerged from a remaining hole in the Schlabendorf Süd open-cast lignite mine and was filled with water from the Spree between 1999 and 2011. It is part of Sielmann's natural landscape Wanninchen and the center of the nature reserve " Drehnaer Weinberg und Stiebsdorfer See ".
