Pelkwitz ( Lower Sorbian Pełkojca ) is a part of the municipality of the district Zöllmersdorf of the city of Luckau in the district of Dahme-Spreewald ( Brandenburg ).

Geographical location

Pelkwitz is an anger village , in the center of the village there is a wide anger with the church, on which the houses are built. At the entrance to the village, a small stream, the Mühlenfließ, runs through the village. It later flows into the bursts .

In 1933, 82 people lived in Pelkwitz. In 1939 there were 75 inhabitants, today the number of inhabitants fluctuates around 40.

On August 1, 1973 Pelkwitz was incorporated into Zöllmersdorf.

On June 24, 1977, a Russian military aircraft of the Sukhoi Su-7 B type crashed in the village, damaging the church, and the roof and tower had to be replaced. Some surrounding buildings caught fire.

The field stone church dates from the 14th / 15th centuries. Century. The half-timbered roof turret was put on in the 17th century, the galleries also date from this time. The windows in the south wall date from the time it was built. The inside of the church is clad with a flat ceiling made of boards. The two bells inside are rung by hand. The organ's bellows are still operated manually. A special feature is the arrangement of the console : the organist sits across the organ. In 2007 the church was renovated.
